[October 18(Fri), 2019 - Seoul] October 17, Thursday, the Seoul Design Foundation(CEO Choi Kyung Ran) successfully hosted “Portfolio Review” at DDP Library in Academy Hall, Dongdaemun Design Plaza(DDP).
Part of “Global Fashion Mentoring Seminar” of Seoul Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020, the “Portfolio Review” program enables participants to have one-on-one portfolio advices from global fashion leaders and experts.
This season, two globally known fashion experts from UK - Isabella Burley, Editor-in-Chief of Dazed & Confused UK, and Anders Christian Madsen, fashion critic of British Vogue, joined “Portfolio Review” through the fashion exchanges program.
The two mentors of Portfolio Review, held in two different rooms, met 20 selected participants that included SFW designers, other young talented designers, photographers, stylists and ordinary fashion buffs to give one-on-one portfolio tips and advices.
Model Jenny Baek, one of the participants, said, “Through some interesting stories about European models and their work life, I could get helpful advices on ways to choose the right direction as a model. It was a big help for me because it gave me a great chance to broaden my perspective on the latest trends and the future of professional fashion models.”
Kim Hye-rim, a designer-to-be and another participant, said, “I could deepen my understanding of what I have to focus on as a designer. Unlike what I’ve learned so far at school, it gave me a valuable chance to gain practical knowledge and advices.”
After seeing the participants’ portfolios, Isabella Burley said, "I'm so happy to share my experiences and knowledge by giving one-on-one portfolio advices. This season, we had many talented participants. It’s a big pleasure for me to see the great portfolios of the creative and enthusiastic future designers.“
Anders Christian Madsen, who has been visiting Seoul Fashion Week for six consecutive years, said, "It’s very interesting to see the ever-growing Korean fashion business. I think the participants had very healthy basic skills in creating line and silhouette. If design is one of the two axes of fashion, the other is the consumers. I hope they will always remember the essence of fashion lies between the two axes.
At a special session on October 18, Lulu Kennedy, founder of “Fashion East” will give her one-on-one advices to 12 participants of “SFW Young Talents Show”.
