[Seoul, October 10, 2018] 2019 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week hosted by the Seoul Design Foundation (CEO, Choi Kyoung Ran) is to be held from October 15th(Mon) to October 20th(Sat) at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
This season’s fashion week is sponsored by Amore Pacific Co., Ltd. - HERA, LG Tromm Styler, Dal.Komm Coffee b;eat, Donga TV, and Outback Steakhouse Korea. The 2019 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week strengthened Seoul to become Asia’s fashion hub and a platform for rising designers in Korea with superior capabilities to become internationally recognized through the global fashion industry’s collaboration system.
The 2019 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week will begin on October 15th (Mon), with the opening ceremony and feature the ‘Seoul Collection’, a fashion show involving 42 domestic and overseas top brands as well as companies. In addition, 'Generations Next Seoul', a special order consultation meeting with 121 leading and rising designer brands, and ‘Generation Next Fashion Show', to be held 13 times with the participation of 24 brands, will open. Following the last season, 'Off-Show', with more than 30 brands participating, will be held throughout Seoul, including Hannam-dong and Jong-ro, turning the entire city into a fashion festival scene during the fashion week.
The Seoul Fashion Week recognizes designers who devote themselves to the development of the Korean fashion industry every year, and honors designers. Two honorary designers, Young-Mi Woo, Choon-Moo Park, who contributed in raising the Korean fashion status in the global fashion industry, were appointed this season. Designer Young-Mi Woo will showcase to celebrate 30th anniversary of the collection of the global contemporary brand Solid Homme through the opening event on October 15th (Mon). The opening show, which will feature will introduce more than 100 looks of 18FW/19SS and offer a new concept of a ‘Future of SOLID’.
Following the next day on October 16th (Tue), the 30th anniversary special exhibit <無 [From Nothing]> will be held by Choon-Moo Park, a designer representing the Korean Avant-Garde Look. The exhibition will be available at the DDP Pathway until November 4th (Sun) and will showcase the collection of Brand DEMOO, which has created the word 'DEMOO STYLE' by promoting the advancement of the Korean women's high fashion culture for the past 30 years.
The 2019 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week strengthened various programs to discover and support promising young designers in Korea. As part of the program, Generation Next Designers were given free participation to fashion and trade shows. In addition, top 10 brands among 20 with the highest order scores and branding screening scores will be given the chance to participate in overseas trade shows. There is growing interest in Generation Next to foster new designers as many brands, which grew through HERA Seoul Fashion Week’s support, such as Dewe Dewe, and By.D’By, are now entering the Seoul Collection.
This year, the Seoul Fashion Week is to celebrate its international status as a global fashion show. In line with its international status, more than 30 buyers from famous department stores and editor shops in US as well as Europe, such as Manhattan's finest luxury department store Barneys New York, global luxury online multi shop NET A PORTER & MATCHESFASHION.COM, London based famous department store Selfridges, and 130 buyers from Asian countries will participate at the fashion week.
The 2019 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week, a fashion festival promoting the participation of citizens, is to provide various programs for citizens to experience and enjoy. On October 18th (Thur), the ‘Global Fashion Mentoring Seminar’ is available to anyone interested in fashion, including designers and rising designers participating at the HERA Seoul Fashion Week. This season's global fashion mentors, Sarah Mower(Chief Critic of VOGUE.COM US) will lead the seminar as the main mentor along with Anders Christian Madsen(Fashion Critic of Vogue UK), Isabella Burley(Editor-in-Chief of Dazed UK). And Mario Dell'Oglio (Italian chamber of buyers President). Moreover, Heather Gramston (Womenswear Buying Manager of Selfridges) are newly joining as mentors. In addition, outdoor big screen to be installed at the DDP Oulim Square will live broadcast the Seoul Collection to enhance citizen accessibility during the fashion week. Further, DDP Café de Pesonnia will be exhibiting the 2018 F/W collection of 10SOUL brands selected as prospects.
