2018 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week Successfully Ends
- A total of 540 buyers participated, achieved 5.73 million US dollars
- A total of 127 brands participated, 91 collections presented including Seoul Collection, Generation Next Fashion Show and Off-show.

‘2018 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week’ hosted by Seoul Design Foundation (Acting CEO Seo Jeonghyeop) and sponsored by HERA came to an end. Fashion people including buyers all around the world and foreign press as well as citizens participated in the Fashion Week.
2018 F/W Hera Seoul Fashion Week was kicked off with the opening ceremony on 19th. 'Seoul Collection' fashion show, where 39 top designer brands and companies participated; 'Generation Next Seoul', a professional trade show which more than 90 recognized and rising designer brands participated; 13 times of ‘Generation Next Fashion Show’; and ‘Off-show’ from 29 brands were presented during its 6-day schedule in Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and all over Seoul.
2018 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week, the biggest fashion festival of South Korea, was full of enjoyable programs. Domestic top designers’ fashion shows such as ‘Miss Gee Collection’ of designer Choon-hee Gee and ‘CARUSO’ of designer Kwang Hyo Chang was organized. Also, ‘JWL’ of designer Jaewoo Lee and ‘HAN CHUL LEE’ of designer Han Chul Lee which moved from Generation Next to Seoul Collection for the very first time, was presented in the Fashion Week.
Moreover, designer Mooyeol Lee of ‘YOUSER’ collaborated with Häagen-Dazs, and introduced a collection that put pop art techniques into the logo of Häagen-Dazs. BLINDNESS, which was selected as a talented designer in 18 S/S HERA Seoul Fashion Week, presented a genderless look under the topic ‘Peace among the war’, attracted foreign renowned buyers.
Furthermore, off-shows from 29 brands were held in DDP as well as in Gangnam, Jongro. 99%is of designer BAJOWOO introduced an iconic style collection in Doota Bunker, under the subject ‘CHAlleNGE’. Moreover, ‘SJYP’, which is the second brand of ‘Steve J & Yoni P’ of designer Steve Jung and Yoni Pai, presented a fashion show with a theme of mixing denim jacket and sportswear in Studio Concrete in Hannamdong, and was favorably received by the audience.
This season, Seoul Design Foundation has continued to invite buyers from Europe, America and Middle East, to focus on promoting designers' international performance. A total of 539 people participated, including 50 buyers of high-end shops and online multi-shops in America and Europe and 130 buyers from Asia, such as buyers from Barneys Newyork, Selfridges, Le Bon Marché, NET-A-PORTER and ASOS.
The professional trade show which was held in the parking lot of Sallimteo, received a positive evaluation from buyers who participated in the collection, providing them the opportunity to buy clothes and meet the designers. Especially, YOUSER, PUSH BUTTON, D-ANTIDOTE, ANNE AND THE CRWD, JKOO, HELENA AND KRISTIE and ROCKET X LUNCH captured buyers’ attention for the unique design and reasonable price.
Besides, the seminar 'Häagen-Dazs X HERA Seoul Fashion Week' was held on 21st(Wed.). Designer Mooyeol Lee, photographer Hyun Bum Nam and patisserie Min Joo Yoo gave lectures under the subject ‘Häagen-Dazs, tastes fashion’.
On the next day 22nd(Thu.), a total of 300 people attended ‘Global Fashion Mentoring Seminar’. In the seminar, 7 mentors, including Sara Maino (Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia) and Anders Christian Madsen (Fashion Critic of Vogue UK), talked deeply about “New Luxury" and "Sustainability in Fashion", which are hot issues in the fashion industry lately.
Moreover, HERA experience zone and the photo booth of 18 F/W HERA Seoul Fashion Week was installed in Oullim Square. Also, a photo exhibition of objects that inspired Generation Next designers was held in DDP CREA. These allowed people to participate in various events.
Fashion Film Festival was held on 20th(Tue.) through 22nd(Thu.) in Academy Hall of Design Lab, and American Honey, Personal Shopper, and The Bling Ring, were screened. After the screening, a movie talk session with Editor Ji Woong Choi was organized. Approximately 350 people participated in the Fashion Film Festival. On the other hand, many people came to the Designer Sample Market of Generation Next Seoul participating designers was opened in Oullim Square.
The mentor of HERA Seoul Fashion Week, Mario Dell’ Oglio said, “I feel stronger energy here than other Fashion Week. In recent years, the average quality of the show has been increasing and the message has become clearer.” Also, fashion journalist Jaewon Ji commented, “Seoul Fashion Week has become a symbol not only for the city of Seoul, but also for Korean fashion events.”
Gu-Ho Jeong, the general director of Seoul Fashion Week, commented, “As the years go by, I feel the expectation and stature of HERA Seoul Fashion Week is getting higher.” He also said, “However, there is no world-class designer in Korea yet. I hope Hera Seoul Fashion Week will be a stepping stone for designers to enter the global market.”
