[October 11(Fri) 2019, Seoul] Having successfully established itself as a global fashion business festival and one of the top five fashion week events in the world, Seoul Fashion Week S/S 2020 will kick off in three days.
Hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by the Seoul Design Foundation(CEO Choi Kyung Ran), Seoul Fashion Week S/S 2020 will take place at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from October 14(Mon) to 19(Sat).
With support from various sponsors including SPC, NHNgodo, Missha, Dr.Martens Airwair Korea, WWD and Dong-A TV, Seoul Fashion Week will begin with the “Hyeonghyeong-saeksaek” retrospective exhibition by its honorary designer Sul Yun Hyoung, which will be followed by a total of 34 “Seoul Collection” shows including those of 32 leading domestic designer brands, a corporate brand show(DEMOO PARKCHOONMOO), and the runway show of London-based Ashley Williams.
A variety of fringe programs such as “Mentoring Seminar”, “Portfolio Review” and “Sustainable Fashion Summit Seoul 2019” will also heat up the global fashion week event.
In addition, Seoul Fashion Week will feature fabulous runway shows of 20 “Generation Next” brands, captivating fashion exhibitions of young, promising design students, which began last season, and the global-scale “Generation Next Seoul(GN_S)” trade show with the participation of 120 leading designer brands.
Besides, Seoul Fashion Week’s new Executive Director Jeon Mi-kyeong will offer a wide selections of public-focused programs. Seoul Fashion Week Invites Buyers from Asia and Middle East on the Largest Scale Ever
This season, Seoul Fashion Week S/S 2020 invites 135 international buyers from 12 countries to build and strengthen its global network with world-renowned distributors. Those influential buyers from many department stores and select shops in 12 Asian nations including China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and UAE will help promote K-Fashion in the global market. Moreover, many buying directors and senior buyers from globally famed online shopping malls including SSENSE(Canada), MatchesFashion(UK), Net-A-Porter(UK), Moda Operandi(US), Mytheresa(Germany) and LUISAVIAROMA(Italy) will visit Seoul Fashion Week to have discussions on the issue of mutually beneficial E-commerce.

Seoul Fashion Week Aims to Keep in Tune with Ordinary Visitors with Colorful Public Interest Events
A Variety of Interactive Programs for Visitors
A colorful array of programs await visitors participation at Seoul Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020. The opening event “Hyeonghyeong-saeksaek” is a retrospective exhibition highlighting the 45-year-long design history of designer Sul Yun Hyoung who has created some of the best Korean-themed styles. Visitors can see the exhibition from October 15. “Mentoring Seminar” and “Portfolio Review” joined by global fashion experts will also be held for fashion students and professionals. Five mentors from ASOS, Galeries Lafayette Doha, Highsnobiety, LUISAVIAROMA and VooStore will grace Mentoring Seminar which will be held on October 19 under the theme of “AI and Fashion Business”. Portfolio Review will include one-on-one advices from world-famous critics. On October 17, young Korean designers can meet Isabella Burley, Editor-in-Chief of Dazed & Confused, and Anders Christian Madsen, fashion critic of British Vogue.
Lulu Kennedy, founder of Fashion East will play mentor for the SFW Young Talents Show students on October 18.
This season, Seoul Fashion Week will introduce its new program of “Sustainable Fashion Summit Seoul 2019” that aims to share thoughts on innovative cases of creating sustainable fashion environment. Part of SFW’s common good programs, the conference is expected to fulfill its social responsibilities and promote public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
Seoul Fashion Week Aims for Fashion Lifestyle Festival with Colorful Events
Some of the “Seoul Collection” tickets will be sold on the spot and online, so that as many visitors as possible can gain access to the runway shows. The online tickets have been on sale since October 7 via Interpark Ticket. At the same time, in collaboration with many fashion, beauty and F&B brands, a wide range of fashion-themed events will be offered at Eoullim Square, DDP. Baskin Robbins of SPC Group, for instance, will offer various campaigns including ice cream ATM zone and 360-degree photo zone where visitors can experience its new products made in collaboration with Stefano Giovannoni, while NHN Godo will run the “Shop by Snap Studio” booth as part of its small business support campaign, “Make My Brand”. Meanwhile, beauty brand Missha will hold an Instagram event and offer visitors a chance to experience its best-selling Dare Rouge series, and fashion brand Dr. Martin will showcase its original lines and run ’TOUGH AS YOU‘ exhibition as part of its new global campaign.
Meanwhile, with the help of Dong-A TV, every runway show of Seoul Fashion Week will be shown live on the huge digital screen at Eoullim Square, DDP. Fashion buffs can also watch the entire runway shows via Naver V StyLive.
